Basit Ali entrusted with task of picking women's squad
Team's former head coach has been called upon to select side for New Zealand series
KARACHI:
Pakistan Women team's former head coach Basit Ali has been assigned the task of picking the squad for the upcoming home series against New Zealand Women team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently made a number of structural changes in women's cricket, including the disbanding of Women’s Selection Committee.
With the relevant body no longer intact to select the side for the October 25 to November 15 series, Basit — who currently heads the Junior Selection Committee — has been called upon.
This, however, remains an interim arrangement necessitated by paucity of time in putting in place a permanent selection committee for women’s cricket.
Before taking the final decision, Basit and his Junior Selection Committee will consult new Women’s team coach Mark Coles, who is these days conducting a training camp at Lahore Country Club, Muridke.
