Man drowns in Lower Jhelum Canal

A man drowned in Lower Jhelum Canal while taking a dip in the precincts of Jhal Chakian police station on Tuesday.

Police said that 28-year-old Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Hadali, was swimming in Lower Jhelum Canal with his friends when he drowned. Rescue 1122 officials recovered the body after hectic efforts and shifted it to a local hospital for legal formalities.

Two drown in Malkhanwala Canal

In another incident, a man was electrocuted to death in Sillanwali police limits. The police said that Muhammad Nadeem, 25, a resident of Chak No 113/NB, was repairing a water pump in an under-construction house when he received an electric shock. As a result, he died on the spot.


Meanwhile, the police registered a case against a revenue officer and patwari on the charge of alloting state land illegally to their favourites.

ACE authorities said that complainant Saifullah Khan, a resident of Haitho Village, Bhakhar District alleged in his application that naib tehsildar in collusion with Patwari Ghulam Muhammad had illegally allotted government land to favourite people by preparing fake documents causing a loss of millions to the national exchequer.

On the report of inquiry officer Asmatullah Bandial, the ACE director ordered registration of case against the accused.
