Gynaecologists get training at RIC

The heart patients who want to have children are helped out with best possible treatment

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) has trained gynaecologists treating expecting mothers suffering from cardiac problems. RIC Chief Executive Officer Maj Genl (rtd) Dr Azhar Mehmood Kiani said the institute has the honour of being the avant-garde public institution to develop this ability of its own kind. The heart patients who want to have children are helped out with best possible treatment. Although it is a complicated situation, he said, for a heart patient to go through, whereas it is not possible for any gynaecologist to deal with pregnant heart patient lest she is properly trained. RIC is also a training and research centre, providing training to medical graduates and doctors in cardiology, surgery, and anaesthesia. There are four international level researches going in RIC where the causes and prevention of heart disease is a major research subject in the Institution. It is also rated as one of the best trial centres in the world.
