ISLAMABAD:
Burglars broke into the home of a senior PTI official in the capital early on Saturday and made off with valuables and cash.

Awn Chaudry, the political secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, said that burglars broke into his Bani Gala home at around 3am.

He added that PTI leader Naeemul Haque, who was sleeping in the next room, woke up when he heard the commotion.

The burglars took off when they heard Haque calling out, he added.

However, the burglars managed to take away three cell phones and Chaudry’s wallet, which contained Rs55,000 in cash and his credit cards.

Chaudry, who filed a complaint with the Bani Gala police over the incident, said that an FIR has been registered.

This is the second incident of burglars breaking into the house of a senior PTI official in the capital.

Earlier in July, burglars had broken into the house of PTI Senator Shibli Faraz and stole some documents.

Faraz had stated that the thieves made away with his tax and business records which had been stored at his father’s house in Islamabad.

The senator had told The Express Tribune that he had inherited the house in Sector F-7/2 from his father, renowned Urdu poet Ahmed Faraz, from where the documents were stolen. The house was currently uninhabited and Faraz said he found out about the burglary days after it took place.

According to Faraz, the items missing were his tax records and business papers while the archives of his father and documents of the Ahmed Faraz Foundation had also been stolen.
