ISLAMABAD:
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has sought a report from the authorities on whether the government directives for a 50% cut in the fee levied on applicants for government jobs appearing before the National Testing Service (NTS) are being complied with.

A university student had filed an application with the top court, submitting that for each job vacancy, candidates have to pay a hefty amount of fee which an unemployed person could not afford.

However, weeks ago the federal government had already directed the ministries concerned to make arrangements to ensure that half the fee was paid by the relevant department to reduce the burden on jobless candidates applying for vacancies.

The government directives also required that while hiring the services of a testing agency, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Rules should be strictly followed to ensure minimum fee through open bidding.

With the directives for fee reduction already issued, the CJP sought a follow-up report on the implementation of the government directives. The Establishment Division secretary is to submit the report within six weeks.
