ISLAMABAD:
Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Farooq Haider on Wednesday said the present government had taken steps to improve infrastructure for attracting domestic and foreign tourists to this area in a proper manner.

"We are working on a tourism corridor that will cover a distance of 192-kilometre in AJK for attracting tourists," he said while talking to PTV. A presentation regarding tourism corridor would be held soon to implement the project in true spirit, he said.

An amount of Rs9 billion have been allocated to improve the road infrastructure in AJK, Haider said.

A large number of domestic tourists were visiting different areas of AJK to see the natural beauty, he said. The credit for promoting tourism in this area goes to ex-PM Nawaz Sharif, he said. "We are working on different roads covering the distance of 512 kilometres to facilitate the travellers," Haider said.

To a question, Haider said tourism authorities will focus on Neelum Valley, Mangla Dam Lake and chairlift in Muzaffarabad.
