Local court gives life sentence to killer

GILGIT:
A local court awarded life imprisonment to an accused convicted for killing a man over a monetary dispute near Nasratul Islam area. Additional Sessions Judge Khurshid Ahmed announced the sentence after hearing arguments of public prosecutor Farman Wali and Advocate Jhanzaib Khan and defence council Raja Ziaur Rehman. He gave life sentence to Akash Fida Hussain a resident of Manshera for killing Abdul Rehman and also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 to be paid to the deceased’s heirs under section 302 CrpC. The convict had critically injured Abdul Rehman on January 2, 2015 who later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital. The court further ruled that the convict would undergo another five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs25,000 under section 392CrpC. In case of non-payment of fine, the convict would spend six months more in jail.
