AVCC kill alleged criminal in encounter

Suspect was involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion activities, claim police

The Anti-Violent and Crime Cell (AVCC) of the Criminal Investigation Agency, in collaboration with the Citizens Police Liaison Committee, (CPLC) claimed to have killed on Tuesday a suspect allegedly involved in kidnapping for ransom and extortion activities.
AVCC officials said that the encounter took place when the AVCC police, in a joint operation with CPLC, conducted a raid in Surjani locality on a tip-off about the presence of suspects involved in kidnapping and extortion activities. The culprits opened fire at the police and tried to escape, however, in retaliation, the police fired back, said an official.

Police gun down two 'militants' in encounter


During the exchange of fire, a suspect, identified as Kamran Jamal, was killed while his accomplice managed to escape under the cover of fire. The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue after medico-legal formalities were completed at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
AVCC SSP Abdullah Ahmed said that the suspects were wanted by Gulberg police where a case was registered against them under the anti-terrorism act and telegraph act, adding that they had arrived at the Surjani locality to collect extortion money when the encounter took place. Jamal was also wanted to the Ferozabad and Liaquatabad police for alleged involvement in kidnapping cases, said SSP Ahmed.

Police kill two suspects in encounter

The police claimed to have recovered weapons and a stolen motorcycle. A case was registered while further investigation is under way.
