ISLAMABAD:
Experts of International Emergency Team UK (IETUK) said they will help train rescue volunteers for safer communities.

The IETUK delegation visited Emergency Services Rescue-122 and inspected rescue service of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation was invited by Punjab Emergency Service Headquarters to collaborate in quality assurance and capacity building of operational staff and instructors.

The delegation headed by Fire and Community Safety Expert Meherban Sadiq, included, ex-director of Service Delivery Daryl Paul Oprey, Fire Prevention and Emergency Driving Instructor Mohammad Ali, ex-station manager Stephen Garcia and Coordinator Sahibzada Irfan Shah.

According to a press release issued on Monday, the delegation met with Rescue 1122 Director General Rizwan Naseer and discussed collaboration for operational capacity building of the field staff and training the faculty of Emergency Services Academy.


The delegation accompanied by Chief Training Officer Mohammad Ahsan visited different rescue stations in Gujranwala, Jhelum, Muzzaferabad, Murree, Nathia Gali, and Rawalpindi to have a brief on ground orientation about the infrastructure, vehicle and equipment, procedure, process, and operational capability of staff.

Rawalpindi Emergency Officer Abdur Rehman briefed the delegation about the performance of 1122 in Punjab, where it has rescued over 5.1 million victims since its inception. Head of Community Safety Deeba Akhter said 97,000 volunteers have been registered with Rescue 1122 and trained on internationally certified emergency response course for developing safer communities in Pakistan.

Rahman said in District Rawalpindi, 1122 has rescued 165,006 victims of emergencies since its establishment.

It has also performed duties 118 bomb blast incidents and rescued 8,701 animals in various cases of emergencies.

Sadiq said IETUK will help in training the rescue volunteers for safer communities.
