Cricket: NZ approached by potential bookie

ICC informed about a suspicious approach during the 2010 Hong Kong Sixes tournament.

WELLINGTON:
The New Zealand team informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) about a suspicious approach during the 2010 Hong Kong Sixes tournament.

New Zealand players including Daryl Tuffey, Nathan McCullum and Scott Styris, dined with a man in Hong Kong who introduced himself as a Middle Eastern diamond dealer, but the players started getting uncomfortable when he started offering them products.

They informed about the encounter to the team manager Steve Wilkins, who in turn reported New Zealand Cricket (NZC), following which the players were interviewed by the ICC’s anti-corruption unit.
