Kolkata blow away brittle Rajasthan
Gambhir, Balaji ensure easy IPL win.
KOLKATA:
Gautam Gambhir and Manoj Tiwary overcame early jitters to ensure that Kolkata Knight Riders eventually romped to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals.
Gambhir top-scored with 35, which was laced with three fours and got good support from Tiwary (30). Rajasthan captain Shane Warne and Shaun Tait had given their side hope for an unlikely win, reducing the hosts to 31 for two before Gambhir and Tiwary entered the fray to ensure victory.
Earlier, Rajasthan were completely blown away with some disciplined bowling from Kolkata’s Laxmipathy Balaji (three for fifteen).
Earlier, Pune Warriors lost by three wickets to Delhi Daredevils in a thriller at Mumbai.
