A number of mortar shells were recovered from a scrap market within the jurisdiction of Badami Bagh police on Saturday. Police and the Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot on getting information and seized the shells. According to the police, a passerby spotted the shells near the godowns and informed them. .
Members of the bomb disposal squad told the media that mortars were defused and were not alive so there was no need to be worried. These were just like bullets lying in a cupboard, they added.
A police officer told The Express Tribune that the recovery of such items from the iron scrap market in Badami Bagh was a routine matter. “The dealers import a huge cache of scrap, which carries various materials that are later on separated by the dealers and sold out at different places.”
