IAEA Director unveils Abdus Salam bust

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano unveiled a bust of Abdus Salam at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) headquarters in Vienna yesterday, according to a foreign office handout.
Abdus Salam was honoured with a Nobel Prize for his work in physics at Stockholm, Sweden back in 1979.
Due recognition for Dr Abdus Salam demanded
"Dr Salam’s efforts in making the world aware of the benefits of using nuclear knowledge for peace, health and prosperity have been recognised on numerous occasions. He was also the founder of the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy," the foreign office said.
IAEA has paid tribute to a host of other scientists and notable figures in the field of nuclear sciences in a similar manner. Now, Abdus Salam joins the elite group as well.
Abdus Salam was Pakistan's first Nobel laureate, and worked to improve the scientific base of students hailing from the developing world. He also advocated for the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
