ISLAMABAD:
The High Commission of India has approached the Islamabad High Court seeking the release of an Indian convict who has completed his sentence but has yet to be released. But the move failed at the first step after the high commission bungled their petition and have withdrawn it to refile it later. The matter had been fixed before Justice Aamer Farooq as an objection case after the registrar’s office had raised objections over the petition filed by the high commission’s attorneys. The registrar’s office stated that the power of attorney had not been properly signed, while the relevant parties had not been nominated as the respondents in the case. During Wednesday’s hearing, the court sustained the registrar’s objections. The Indian high commission subsequently withdrew its petition. While talking to The Express Tribune, the high commission’s lawyer, Malik Shahnawaz Noon, said that he would re-file petition after making the necessary changes.
