‘Regulate blood collecting organisations’
Health experts want provincial government set up a body to monitor organisations, which collect blood independently
PESHAWAR:
Health experts have stressed that the provincial government set up a regulatory authority which monitors organisations which collect blood independently.
They added that there were a number of welfare organisations in the province which collected blood and were serving humanity, but since there was a Regional Blood Center (RBC) working in the provincial capital, other organizations should work under its umbrella so that things can run smoothly.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar press club on Wednesday, the Safe Blood Transfusion Programme National Coordinator Professor Dr Hassan Abbas Zaheer stressed on the need for a regulatory authority which regulates organisations collecting blood. Zaheer stated that there around 10 different RBCs running across the country with four in Sindh, two in Punjab and one each at K-P, AJK, Balochistan and G-B.
