Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz left for London early on Monday to meet her ailing mother Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

NA-120 by-poll: Sit-ins, Panama, Aqama all part of a conspiracy: Maryam

According to Radio Pakistan, the daughter of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was accompanied by her husband, Member National Assembly Captain (retd) Safdar. She was leading the by-election campaign for NA-120 for her mother.

Begum Kulsoom, currently under treatment in the United Kingdom for throat cancer, on Sunday clinched victory  in the NA-120 by-election after Nawaz’s disqualification under the Supreme Court verdict in the Panama Papers case.

NA-120 by-poll: Another ‘humiliating defeat’ awaits Imran Khan, says Kirmani

In a speech after the win, the former first daughter told her supporters that they had accomplished a big feat, fighting not only against those seldom seen in the consistency but also against the ‘unseen forces’. She said PML-N’s victory from NA-120 showed that people had rejected the ‘unjust decision’ to disqualify Nawaz Sharif and all conspiracies against the government. She said the people had given their decision upon the disqualification – that they would continue to revere Nawaz Sharif as prime minister of Pakistan.
