While the polling for NA-120 by-election is under way, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Asif Kirmani said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan would again suffer a "humiliating defeat".

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, the PML-N leader said the citizens of Lahore were loyal to deposed PM Nawaz Sharif and they would prove this by voting for PML-N candidate Kulsoom Nawaz.

"The citizens of Lahore will teach a lesson to the PTI and yet another humiliating defeat awaits Imran Khan," he added.

PML-N, PTI face off as voting begins in NA-120 by-poll

Kulsoom Nawaz of the PML-N is taking on PTI’s Dr Yasmin Rashid in what is being dubbed by political analysts as a “tough competition” between the two.

Political analysts say the ruling party is contesting to prove its narrative that the people of Pakistan have rejected the Supreme Court’s verdict of July 28 – deposition of Nawaz Sharif as the prime minister. While on the other hand, its main rival, PTI, has built its campaign over the ruling family’s corruption and disqualification of Sharif in the Panama Papers case, they added.
