AJK electioneering: Impending elections generate excitement

Candidates for forthcoming general elections begin electioneering.

Candidates for the forthcoming general elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), while waiting for the final schedule, have begun electioneering.


Various political parties have started consultations to form electoral alliances with field candidates independently or otherwise in the elections, which are like to be held in the next three months.

The five-year constitutional term of the incumbent AJK legislature would end on July 25. Candidates from various political parties have started their efforts to attain their respective party mandate. Besides various political parties, hundreds of independent candidates are also going to contest in these elections.

The prominent political parties participating in the election are: All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference, Pakistan Peoples Party, and Motahida Majlas-e-Amal.

Other parties participating in the elections are  Jamaat-e-Islami, Mutahida Qaumi Movement, Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party, Jammu Kashmir Liberation League, Jammu Kashmir Plebiscite Front, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front and Jammu Kashmir National Liberation Front.

These political parties have also summoned the meetings of their respective parliamentary boards to nominate their candidates.
