City to get a ‘centre of excellence’

More than 1,100 TEVTA people will undergo the course

LAHORE: A German organisation, GIZ, will establish a Centre of Excellence in Lahore to provide advanced training to more than 1,100 TEVTA teachers.

This was stated by Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh.  He was addressing a meeting at the TEVTA Secretariat on Monday.

Turkish TiKA, TEVTA to set up modern training centres

Qaiser said that the principals of 120 TEVTA institutes will be provided training at this centre. Providing advance and modern methods to teachers is need of the hour, he said. Therefore, the role of Centre of Excellence is very important, he added.

“If teachers are provided training, they will be able to educate students by using modern techniques,” he said.



TEVTA is striving to provide skilled labour to the youth in Punjab and now it is the duty of parents and teachers to make them realise the importance of skilled labour, he said.

TEVTA to send 4000 students to China for training 

“If we become successful, we will be able to meet the need of the labour force needed for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Earlier, GIZ had provided training to more than 3,300 teachers and principals of 25 TEVTA institutes as per a five-year programme. GIZ also established five E-Learning Centres at TEVTA institutes, said Qaiser.
