Jinnah Government College (JGC), Karachi kept their promise when they beat India in their group match on Sunday by seven wickets courtesy Hasan Ali's splendid bowling.

In an exclusive interview with The Express Tribune, before leaving for the tournament, JGC vice-captain Muhammad Salman had promised to give their best against India's Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Commerce (MMMCC), Pune.

In a low-scoring encounter, JGC bowled MMMCC out for 81 all thanks to Hasan's 4-21 in 3.1 overs.

In their reply, JGC managed to chase the target inside 15 overs with Muhammad Azad top-scoring an unbeaten 38 off 51 balls.

Australia bag three-wicket win

In their next match on Monday, Pakistan's JGC faced defeat against Australia.

After scoring 122-8 in their 20 overs courtesy Fahaddis Bukhari's 47 off 36 balls, Pakistan were unable to defend the total.

Charles Litchfield's 37 off 31, top-score for his Australia team, and later Joseph Kershaw's unbeaten 18 off 13 and Sam Brandwood's 12 not out off just three deliveries, was enough to down Pakistan.

Pakistan will now play South Africa in their last group A match and will need a win to enter the semi-finals.
