The police have nabbed an alleged ringleader of a street criminal gang said to have been involved in over 100 robberies at bakeries, shops and on roads. Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) DIG Dr Jameel Ahmed said this during a press conference at his office on Thursday.
The suspect, Shah Hussain, is said to be the leader of a six-member gang who looted grocery stores and bakeries, as well as mugged people on roads. Recently, some videos went viral on social media in which the gang was seen committing robberies.

DIG Ahmed said that the suspect was arrested in a raid while two of his accomplices, Suleman and Ateeq, managed to escape, leaving behind a pistol and motorcycle.
"A licensed 9mm pistol registered in Balochistan was found in the suspect's possession and, during initial interrogation, he confessed to being involved in over 100 robberies in collusion with other members of his gang," the police officer added.
According to the police, the suspects have robbed stores and bakeries in Model Colony, Pehlwan Goth, Sea View, Sharae Faisal and Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhoods. Moreover, they are children of retired and dismissed navy personnel. The other three members of the gang have been identified as Ikram alias Kami, Nasir and Hamza.

The DIG commented that it was alarming that youngsters of the city were drifting towards crime. This needs to be stopped, he remarked, adding that the newly emerged terrorist group, Ansarul Sharia Pakistan, also consists mainly of youths.
