Ban on Sharif, delisting of PML-N sought
Asks Nawaz to appear before the commission in person or through a counsel on September 13

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday sent notices to deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif asking him to appear before the commission in person or through a counsel on September 13 in a case filed by a lawyer who has sought delisting of the ruling PML-N as a political party.

Raees Abdul Wahid, an advocate of the Islamabad High Court, filed an application with the ECP to delist the PML-N as political party and ban Sharif from taking part in any political activity since he has been disqualified as member of the National Assembly by the Supreme Court.
The PML-N is registered under the name of Sharif, who has already relinquished the office of party president. Sardar Yaqoob Nasir has been appointed as acting president of the party.
The ECP has fixed Wahid’s petition for initial hearing on September 13. Sharif is likely to engage a counsel to represent him.
