Murder case: Court rejects Afaq Ahmed’s plea
Ahmed cannot be acquitted unless the complainant and another victim of firing are examined in the case as witnesses.
KARACHI:
Judicial complex additional district and sessions judge Sagheer Ahmed Shaikh was hearing a petition against the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist, Atiqur Rehman. Two other MQM activists, Shahzad and Abid, were also injured.
On Thursday, Ahmed’s lawyer submitted that according to the Criminal Procedure Court Act 265/K, Ahmed has been in jail since April 2004 and is being implicated on the basis of a statement taken from him while in police custody. He said that as the complainant and another victim of firing by the accused have implicated Ahmed, he cannot be acquitted unless these two witnesses are examined.
