Petrol price goes up by Rs2 a litre
PM decides to keep prices of high speed diesel, kerosene, LDO unchanged
ISLAMABAD:
The federal government on Thursday decided to increase price of petrol by Rs2 per litre following fluctuation in prices in the international market effective from September 1, 2017.
However, the prime minister decided to keep the prices of high speed diesel, kerosene and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) unchanged for the month of September.
Petrol is used in vehicles where gas was not available. All CNG stations in Punjab have switched to imported CNG. Therefore, demand for petrol has increased.
The High Speed Diesel is used in vehicles and the agriculture sector. The government’s decision to keep its price unchanged would also provide relief to the farming community.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, Ishaq Dar discussed the matter with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
It was decided by the prime minister that the prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD), Kerosene Oil and LDO will be maintained at the current level till September 30, 2017.
