Golf: Scott to defend Texas title
The Australian was encouraged by his performance in the first major of the year.
SAN ANTONIO:
Australian Adam Scott defends his Texas Open title this week, trying to build on a strong showing at the Masters and set aside any lingering disappointment in his runner-up finish at Augusta.
The Australian was encouraged by his performance in the first major of the year.
“I hit a great half-shot into the 16th at Augusta,” said Scott.
“Hopefully something to build on, even though it wasn’t the result I wanted in the end.”
The Australian rose to number three in the world after winning the 2006 Tour Championship.
By the end of 2009 he had dropped to 34th. However, now Scott has vaulted from 30th to 17th in the latest rankings.
