Exclusive make-up artist Amina Raja has 12 years’ experience in the beauty industry and works tirelessly out of her boutique studio based in Lahore. We speak to her about her favourite looks, trending beauty techniques and beauty regimes to keep your skin feeling young and fresh all season long!
How would you describe your signature look and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other make-up artists?
That would be my dramatic and shimmery eye make-up looks and most of all, my famous dewy look. I was the first one to use designer foundations according to skin type and am known for setting them in a way that they stay for long hours on a bride; making her look radiant and glowy. What sets me apart is the soft and natural make-up we use, and yet the total transformation we achieve without photo shopping. Our make-up speaks for itself! Our brides glow in real life just like in reel life!
What do you love most about make-up?
Being able to create beauty! Bringing out the best in my clients, looks they have never gotten and seeing the gleam in their eyes and that smile that follows the minute you finish their look!
What are the three tools in your make-up kit that you can never be without?
Concealer, kohl, and my favourite lipstick; Saint Germain by MAC.
One great make-up tip:
Clean your skin! Also always apply foundation in layers and wait for it to set, and be sure to never over powder.
What are some common beauty mistakes that women make?
Applying false eyelashes in a way that makes your eyes droop. It’s a common mistake that is made often and can make or break your look. Another bad mistake is using the wrong shade of foundation.
What products do you think should be a staple in every woman’s purse?
A BB and CC cream, quick fix concealer, and a beautiful lipstick.
What are the popular beauty trends this season?
My favourite black smoky eyes with nude lips are the hottest this season!
If you could only use two make-up items to get ready for an event, what would they be?
Concealer and kohl.
Your recommendation for the best foundation, eye liner and blush?
I love Estée Lauder foundations, they’re my all-time favourite! But you have to choose the right one between double wear and maximum cover. Chanel’s eyeliners are the best and my favourite blush is orgasm by Nars!!
What lipstick shade is a must for this season?
Black berry and Material girl by Huda Beauty.
Which celebrity would you want to do a makeover on?
Aishwarya Rai.
A make-up artist that inspires you:
Mickey Contractor.
Do you listen to your client’s suggestions when doing their make-up or trust your craft?
A mixture of both.
