Speaking against corruption is a moral duty, says NAB official

Says corruption is the biggest problem of our society after terrorism

LAHORE: It is the prime duty of parents to teach and train their children not to be corrupt, said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Additional Director Nirmal Hassani.

She was speaking at a seminar organised to raise voice against corruption by the Punjab University (PU) Centre for South Asian Studies in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday. CSAS Director Dr Umbreen Javaid, Major (Retd) Ghulam Rasool, Dr Abdul Majid, faculty members and MPhil/ PhD scholars were present on the occasion.

Hassani said that every individual should try to keep himself away from corruption and as a nation we should keep an eye on others. She added that corruption was the biggest problem of our society after terrorism. Corruption hinders all the development of a society and all of us should become a part to fight this evil, she added.

In his address, Dr Abdul Majid said that the corruption which was the axis of evils had penetrated very deep in our society. Major (Retd) Ghulam Rasool said that we must have to turn to our religious ethics and values to eradicate corruption and all the segments of society have to play their role in this regard.

He said that it was not only the matter of our education but also training and we have to keep a regular check to eradicate it from our society. Later an awareness walk was also arranged within the university premises.

PU announces Eid holidays

Punjab University will remain closed from Friday September 1st, 2017 to Monday September 4th, 2017 on account of Eidul Azha holidays.
