PESHAWAR:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Sunday agreed, in principle, to the idea of formulating a KP Economic Development Board to provide a coherent economic direction to the province and operationalise development plans in a transparent manner.

The chief minister also decided that the K-P government will hold international conferences and business briefs for both local and foreign investors. He also gave approval to the budget needed for the programmes.

Khattak made the decisions in a meeting with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Company’s Chairman Ghulam Dastagir at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar.

According to a handout issued by the CM’s media wing, Khattak and Dastagir deliberated on the matter of formulating a K-P Economic Development Board in the vast interest of economic development of the province. The CM agreed to the idea of such a body and it was decided that more work would be done to make it a reality.

Both also discussed the means of raising the profile of K-P province as a premier destination for trade and investment in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Khattak claimed that his government has successfully done the fundamental groundwork for an investment-friendly environment in K-P by establishing peace and security, providing good governance and transparency, and institutional reforms.

“Now it has become a matter of great significance that this positive message be effectively conveyed to the rest of the world particularly the investor community,” he added.
