LAHORE:
Academicians, trainers, researchers and teachers gathered to discuss the future of education and the new tools available for their jobs.

They stressed the importance of using technology and discussed the challenges faced in the current global scenario.

The education experts were speaking at the Love Learning Conference on Saturday. The event aimed to inspire teachers and educators to think differently and creatively about teaching and learning. The conference was organised by 3P Learning in collaboration with the University of Education.

The conference was attended by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) School of Education Associate Director Dr Mariam Chughtai, teacher trainer and educationist Abbas Hussain, Chand Bagh School CEO Shama Aleem, Institute of Mind Sciences Director Professor Moiz Hussian, teacher trainer for literacy Tina Hameed and 3P Learning Pakistan Regional Manager Iffat Ahmar.

“Some of the most pressing issues are technology and education in an increasingly globalised world. Focusing on the politics of educational reforms in Pakistan, the talk will illustrate how technology has become the new bricks and mortar of this decade,” Dr Chughtai said.

She also appreciated that the Love Learning Conference was committed to cultivating a rich learning environment and giving delegates direct access to industry leaders. “Gain access to expertise, analysis and EdTech through thought-provoking sessions and discussions.

Challenge your perspective of teaching and learning. Equip yourself with ideas and strategies to bring a difference in your classroom,” she said.

Abbas Hussain, while speaking to the teachers, said education, with its varied versions in a diverse cultural context, revolved around two radical elements ie teaching and learning.

“It is already an established fact that teaching not only affects learning directly but also anchors the attitude of learners towards learning for a lifetime,” he said.

Shama Aleem shared her experience, saying that the art of holistic education was actually its responsiveness to diverse learning styles and needs of evolving human beings. “It aims to draw an intrinsic reverence for life and a passionate love for learning from people. This thought- provoking session will help delegates understand the true meaning of Holistic Education - a term widely misused. Why is it important? So that teachers may actively cultivate the development of the whole child: emotions, social skills, beliefs, community participation and role in the greater world,” she said.

Prof Moiz Hussian said people’s attitudes, behaviour and practices were mostly driven by a particular belief system that arises from their conscious and subconscious experiences. “This belief system influences our values, goals and strategies and how we see our accomplishments in comparison to the world. Teachers, being the building block of society, do not just transfer knowledge but their own beliefs. Thus, this session will help the participants learn and bring their consciousness to the forefront to harness the power of their belief system,” he concluded.
