Institute named after Dr Ruth Pfau  

VC also announced the Dr Pfau Gold Medal which would be awarded to student for social work

LAHORE: The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) renamed one of its institutes after Dr Ruth Pfau, who devoted her life to eradicating leprosy in Pakistan.

“On the instructions of LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi, the varsity’s Women Institute of Leadership and Learning (WILL) has been renamed after Dr Ruth Pfau,” said an LCWU spokesperson. Dr Qureshi said that Dr Pfau’s selfless services for humanity would always be remembered.

“The passion of this great personality for sacrifices and humanitarian services will prove to be beacon of light for students graduating from this institute,” said added.

Dr Qureshi said Dr Pfau served humanity throughout her life. The VC also announced the Dr Pfau Gold Medal which would be awarded to a student for her social work at the next convocation. The VC also suggested setting up of a peace chair in the name of Dr Pfau.
