Contempt plea: SHC orders PIA MD to appear

Managing director of PIA and its manager administration and human resources directed to appear in person on April 21.

KARACHI:
The managing director of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and its manager administration and human resources were directed on Wednesday by the Sindh High Court’s Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa to appear in person on April 21. The bench was hearing a contempt-of-court plea filed by 55 sacked employees. The sacked staff’s lawyer Abrar Bokhari told the court that the PIA officers were deliberately not respecting the orders of the court which had said the airline must give them their jobs back. After hearing the counsel for the applicant, the bench ordered show-cause notices to be issued to the alleged contemners with directions to submit reasons for flouting orders of the bench.
