NAB convicts two former HESCO officials
Accused will also have to pay a penalty of Rs52 million

A court of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Hyderabad convicted on Thursday two former top officials of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) to 10 years imprisonment.
The ex-chief executive officer of Hesco Muzaffar Abbasi and human resource director Ali Anwar Jokhio, who faced charges of making illegal appointments in the company, were shackled and arrested from the court.

Both the convicts will also have to pay a penalty of Rs52 million each as they were accused of causing losses worth Rs104 million to the company. According to NAB's spokesperson Rizwan Soomro, in 2013, Hesco board of directors approved 428 vacancies for appointment.
However, the two officials appointed 277 employees in excess to sanctioned posts. Abbasi headed the company from 2013 t0 2015. The NAB filed a reference against Abbasi and Jokhio in April, 2014.
