K-P govt launches radio programme to raise awareness

Series will be aired on Radio Pakistan, Radio Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) cell of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Local Government department on Wednesday launched a radio drama series, aiming to raise awareness regarding hygiene issues among the masses.

A launching ceremony, under the auspices of Local Government department, was held in Nishtar Hall in this regard.

Khattak promises funds to counter virus

The drama series, ‘Rokhana Sahar’, is a compilation of real-life anecdotes collected from different non-governmental organisations working in the province and converted into visual pieces, a hand-out issued by the department read.

It further read that the series will be aired every Thursday and Sunday at 2pm and at 12pm respectively, from August 24, 2017 on Radio Pakistan and Radio Pakhtunkhwa.

WASH coordinator Rehman Khan lauded the efforts made by the government to tackle water and sanitation issues and stressed the need for promoting participatory approach.

He thanked all the partners for their financial and technical support in production of radio drama series in his welcome address. Highlighting aim of the drama, he said the reasons behind the drama prediction were to reach maximum people of the province especially in rural areas to get them aware about health hygiene.
