Sub-inspector Muhammad Liaquat, who is in-charge of the anti-car lifting cell (ACLC) of the police, said the suspect hailed from Peshawar and was arrested from the capital on a tipoff. He said two of the five cars recovered were stolen from Civil Lines police areas in Rawalpindi while the status of the rest would be determined after their forensic examination. Police said the suspect could lead them to other car theft suspects and more recoveries.
It is pertinent to note that hundreds of auto-theft cases are still pending with the police. According to the police, more than 1400 vehicles and around a thousand motorcycles have been stolen from the capital since 2014.
