BAHAWALPUR: The Azadi Train, which is on a month-long journey from Islamabad to Karachi via Peshawar, Lahore and Quetta, arrived at the Bahawalpur Railway Station on Sunday.

Cultural show: Special Azadi Train ready to chug out

People in large numbers were present at the railway station to welcome the Azadi Train. The initiative was taken by the government to educate the people about the history and culture of Pakistan. The train is carrying decorated floats depicting the cultures of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.



The air-conditioned coaches consist of galleries with displays regarding the Pakistan Movement, sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.

Muhammad Fahad, a visitor said the train was beautifully decorated with prominent symbols of national culture and heritage. He added, “The train is effectively promoting the unity among the nation.”

Azadi Train receives warm welcome in Sahiwal, Pattoki 

Azadi Train Officer Incharge Iftikhar Hussain said, “Azadi Train is promoting the national unity and enthusiasm all over the country.” He said the train will prove as a sign of federation and a tool of connectivity between all the four provinces.

Earlier, the train resumed its journey from Multan where it stopped for two days. It reached Shujabad and Lodhran railway stations where a large number of people welcomed it.

Students of various schools also visited the Azadi Train and witnessed the cultural shows and live performances.
