Traffic jam in Rawalpindi helps boy escape captors

MUZAFFARABAD: A boy abducted a few days ago, managed to escape from the custody of kidnappers in Rawalpindi when they were stuck in a traffic jam.

Abdul Basit Shah, a 12-year-old student went missing on August 15 on the way back home from school. The devastated family reported the incident to the police on the same day.

Narrating his ordeal after the escape, Basit accompanied by his father and other family members told the media at Muzaffarabad Press Club that he was on way to home on August 15 when at Neelum Bridge a man riding in a car requested him to help push the car and another pushed him into the car while doing so and he went unconscious.



“I regained my senses I found myself in a car stuck in traffic and managed to flee,” boy said.

Once, at a safe distance from the captors, Basit said he came to know that he was in Rawalpindi.

He saw personnel of National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) and requested them to help him. The motorways police broke the happiest news to the parents bringing jubilation in the family and the local community.

Talking to the media at the press club, the parents and the family demanded the government and police to adopt strict checking measure entry and exit points to Azad Jammu and Kashmir to stop movement of criminal elements across border.
