Pcs Officers: CJ declines request for stay order
Petition was moved by Rai Manzoor Nasir, the PCS Officers’ Association president.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected a plea by PCS officers to issue a stay order against show-cause notices served to them by the Punjab chief secretary on charges of misconduct. The court remarked that it was yet to determine if the petition was maintainable or not. The petition was moved by Rai Manzoor Nasir, the PCS Officers’ Association president. He said that the officers had observed a peaceful protest to raise ‘genuine’ demands, yet the Punjab government had initiated a disciplinary action against them. He asked the court to suspend the operation of the show-cause notices. The chief justice refused to issue a stay order and adjourned the hearing till April 19 to decide the maintainability of the case.
