Treasury wants increased quota for minorities
Opposition submits resolution against door-to-door school admission drive

The treasury benches have demanded an increase in the number of minority seats in both the provincial and national assemblies.
The demand was put forward by PML-N legislator Hina Pervez Butt through a resolution submitted in the Punjab Assembly. She contended that the quota of minorities should not only be increased in both assemblies, but also in government services.

She stated that minorities played a vital role in the creation of Pakistan and their services could not be forgotten at any cost. Meanwhile, the opposition benches submitted a resolution against instructions of the Punjab Education Department for teachers to run door-to-door campaigns to increase admission rates at government schools.
The resolution was submitted in the Punjab Assembly by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Sadia Sohail Rana. In the document, she urged that new staff be recruited to run the campaign rather than existing teachers.
Religious minorities being discriminated against
She claimed duty had been assigned to current teachers so they could falsely praise government schools, adding such a situation was certainly regrettable.
Sadia said education standards should be increased so that the people send their kids to government schools rather than private institutions. The MPA said it was embarrassing for teachers to run campaigns which will affect the quality of children’s education.
