KARACHI:
The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has voiced concern over the expanding trade deficit of the country and called for immediate administrative and policy steps on this account. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, KATI President Masood Naqi, Senior Vice President Ghazanfer Ali Khan and Vice President Umer Rehan underlined the need for providing financial assistance for improvement in production, technology upgrade, branding, certification and vast marketing. They maintained that many measures announced in the trade policy were yet to be implemented. They also spoke about certain reservations about some free trade agreements, which needed to be addressed. KATI leaders said practical steps were required to cut the cost of industrial production.
