Universities in the city marked the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan with flag-hoisting ceremonies and messages of determination to serve the country.

Educational institutions mark Independence Day

At the Punjab University (PU), Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir urged students to serve the country, irrespective of personal interest. He was addressing the flag hoisting ceremony organised at the PU College of Art and Design on Monday.


Deans, principals, directors, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Dr Zafar inaugurated the newly-renovated Old Hall at College of Art and Design. A mushaira was also held in the old hall in which renowned poets presented their works related to the independence movement.

Colours of the nation: Artists celebrate Independence Day

The Government College University (GCU) Lahore celebrated 70th Independence Day of Pakistan with traditional zeal and prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.
