Pakistan's ride hailing boom seems to keep growing with new entrants like Limofied and Paxi hitting the markets. With new entrants, new opportunities arise for those seeking employment.
Ride hailing service Paxi Pakistan has partnered with NOWPDP – a disability inclusion initiative – in an attempt to create opportunities to economically empower persons with disabilities.
New ride-hailing service Paxi looks to go beyond apps
Paxi has agreed to hire six persons with lower limb impairments as bike riders for their bike taxi service. The riders will use the retro fitted or three wheeler bikes specially designed for them.
“Through this initiative, I want to show people that persons with lower limb impairment can drive and mobilise others. I want to prove that we can do wonders if given opportunities”, exclaimed Vishal Kumar - one of the riders with lower-limb impairments.
Ride-hailing service for women to operate in Karachi formally from March 23
Paxi previously launched a women-exclusive ride hailing service called ‘Pink Taxi’ on International Women's Day.
An MoU was signed in a private ceremony held on Saturday, August 12, at the NOWPDP premises in Saddar and was attended by NOWPDP’s President Amin Hashwani and Paxi’s CEO Sheikh Muhammad Zahid and DIG Traffic Dr Jameel Ahmed.
