Educational institutions mark Independence Day
At Punjab University, the flag-hoisting ceremony will be held today

Educational institutions in the city are all set to mark 70th Independence Day of Pakistan.
Various activities, including flag hoisting ceremonies, performances, competitions are being organised and some universities of Punjab are also participating in the celebrations in Quetta.

In Lahore, flag-hoisting ceremonies will be held at Punjab University, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), University of Management and Technology (UMT) and Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).
At Punjab University, the flag-hoisting ceremony will be held today (Monday) at 8am at the Punjab University College of Art & Design Allama Iqbal Campus, Old Campus. PU Vice Chancellor will hoist the national flag, while faculties’ deans, heads of teaching departments, senior faculty members and employees will also attend the ceremony.
At LCWU, the ceremony will take place at 9am, while at the UET Lahore, the ceremony will be held at Chemical Hall from 7:30 to 9am.
Meanwhile, UET hosted the all Punjab Inter-varsity Independence day quiz competition 2017. Varsities including, University of Gujrat, Punjab University, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Mian Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology (MNS-UET) took part in the competition.
To mark the Independence Day, delegations from 28 universities, including students and faculty of LCWU, UET Lahore and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore went on rail trip to Quetta. Karwan-e-Yakjehti organised by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) in collaboration with the Government of Balochistan and Pakistan Army left for Quetta on Friday by Jaffar Express.
Independence Day preparations in full swing
UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and university teachers saw off the students at City Campus Lahore.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pasha said that the UVAS was participating in the caravan to show solidarity with the people of Balochistan. “We are one nation and united under the same flag and this caravan on the occasion of Independence Day shows that we stand together come what may,” he said.
