Strengthening ties: LCCI delegation to visit Mexico in 2018
Two sides discuss enhancement of trade potential
LAHORE:
Mexico can be a tangible and lucrative market for Pakistani products, therefore entrepreneurs must explore this untapped destination, said Ambassador of Mexico Jose Alfonso Zegbe.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), he said Pakistan and Mexico had good prospects for improving mutual economic ties. He urged businessmen of both countries to take initiatives to tap areas of mutual interest.
"Mexican entrepreneurs are interested in knowing about Pakistan's business procedures and potential areas of investment," revealed the ambassador.
The Mexican economy was improving and diversifying and it was good time for Pakistani businessmen to explore opportunities in Mexico, he suggested.
Zegbe added that sustainable relations could be developed through addressing the issue of double taxation and intellectual property rights.
He invited the LCCI president to arrange a trade delegation for Mexico to explore trade and investment opportunities that would set the ground for joint ventures between businessmen of the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Abdul Basit highlighted that Pakistan's total exports were $20.5 billion in 2016, out of which Mexico's share was only 0.5%.
LCCI Senior Vice President Amjad Ali Jawa announced that he would lead a trade delegation to Mexico in 2018 to explore trade and investment opportunities.
