LAHORE: The Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development process is facing difficulties due to lack of concrete data and insignificant research, according to Federal Textile Secretary Shahid Rashid.

Speaking at the launching ceremony for the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority’s (Smeda) research journal on Monday, Rashid said prominent data reporting agencies were unable to provide accurate statistics on the SME sector.

This deficiency severely hinders the process of evaluating policy interventions made for growth and development in the country, he said.
