A selfless devotion
The government must ensure provision of necessary resources and assistance to the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center

It is indeed surprising to see someone leave her native homeland, people and life far behind and rather settle and devote her life to poverty and disease-stricken people. Such instances even surpass the affectionate bond blood relationships share, so was Dr Ruth Pfau’s devotion to humanity and her cause to cure leprosy. It was due to her efforts against the disease that Pakistan was declared the first country in Asia to have controlled leprosy. It is a good gesture on the part of the prime minister to declare a state funeral for her. However, it is far more important to carry forward her mission and cause even more diligently. The government must ensure provision of necessary resources and assistance to the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center, founded by the late Dr Ruth Pfau. Her demise has undeniably left an irreparable void to the humanitarian cause.
