50th syndicate meeting held at UVAS
VC briefs syndicate members on various academic and other projects
LAHORE:
50th syndicate meeting of the University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) Lahore was held on Thursday.
UVAS Vice Chancellor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha presided over the meeting to discuss different issue pertaining to the university. Earlier, the vice chancellor briefed the syndicate members on various academic, research training, short-term trainings of the livestock department staff and ostrich farmers of Punjab, seminars, international conference, development projects regarding establishment of an export facilitation centre for livestock and poultry industry and development of camel milk value chain by adopting modern supply chain mechanism for enhancing farmers profitability in Punjab.
A hefty amount: Rs3.81 billion approved as UVAS annual budget
Syndicate members lauded the role of UVAS for providing quality of education in the country and various food products prepared by students to promote safe and healthy food.
Earlier, UVAS Vice Chancellor Dr Pasha along with Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Prof Dr Masood Rabbani and Director Quality Enhancement Cell Dr Hafsa Zainab visited UVAS sub-campus, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences CVAS, Jhang.
On the occasion, the VC inaugurated a state-of-the art epidemiology laboratory at CVAS Jhang. He appreciated the active role of Principle CVAS Jhang Prof Dr Muhammad Younus Rana and Associate Professor Dr Iahtesham Khan on the establishment of epidemiology lab to improve the diagnostic facilities especially for the identification of brucellosis disease.
For all to see: UVAS to build livestock technology park
The lab was established through Dr Iahtesham Khan competitive research project title “Brucellosis in Pakistan” funded by the Federal German Foreign Office. The brucellosis is highly infectious disease transfers from animals to humans mainly through unpasteurized milk and their products. This disease causes abortion in animals and humans in last trimester of pregnancy.
Earlier, a detailed meeting held with CVAS faculty members and VC Dr Pasha presided over the meeting and stressed the need of their active role in improving the quality of education at CVAS, Jhang.
