NPO launches energy efficiency programme
Energy-efficient appliances to be exported at double the price.
MULTAN:
The National Productivity Organisation (NPO) has launched a programme to overcome the energy crisis by utilising available energy resources in an effective manner, according to NPO Chief Executive Khawaja Mohammad Yousuf.
Yousuf informed that energy-efficient appliances were being manufactured to minimise the energy shortage in the country.
These energy-efficient appliances will help promote the country’s exports, he said.
Yousuf said that a fan being exported for $25 would be exported for $50 after improving its energy efficiency, saying that more electricity-consuming appliances are being used in homes and the industrial sector, which contribute heavily to energy shortage in the country.
The textile sector will also benefit from such a move, adding that a textile unit can save Rs1 million by adopting latest energy-efficient measures.
Yousuf added that NPO had sent a team of professionals abroad for training in ways to convert appliances into energy-efficient machines.
