Hum Nay Suna Hum Nay Dekha: a tribute to the golden age of Pakistani entertainment

The book is a trip down memory lane for those familiar with Pakistani media

With the launch of its first title Choti Choti Khushiyan earlier this year, publishing house Markings Khudi has now introduced a second title Hum Nay Suna Hum Nay Dekha, a pictorial representation of popular Pakistani films and tv serials, documented and curated in one book.

Hum Nay Suna Hum Nay Dekha is an artifact that incites a discourse on popular culture mainstream. It is a compilation of cartoon images from the most popular moments of Pakistani films and radio, and iconic scenes from revered dramas dating back to the 1950s and 1960s.

It's the people who are responsible for Qandeel Baloch's death: Saba Qamar

With a careful selection and recreation of timeless scenes from the golden years of Pakistani entertainment, the book celebrates masterpieces from the Pakistani film and television industries together.

"This book is an exquisite homage to the pioneers and icons who have enriched generations of hearts and homes. Hum Nay Suna Hum Nay Dekha retraces the cinematic and broadcast stories and songs that have shaped and carried us through our youth," said the publisher, Kiran Aman.

With a timely release coinciding with the country's 70th Independence month, the book celebrates cinematic endeavours by veterans in a pictorial and reader-friendly compilation.

Hum Nay Suna Hum Nay Dekha might be the first to pay tribute to pop-culture heritage  in Pakistan.

It references the images of each show or film and the year it is from in both Roman and Arabic Urdu text.

The present compilation is titled 'Volume 1' and plans of subsequent books are also underway, perhaps with some of the more recent dramas and films in them.
