Students said that the devolution would deprive them of opportunities for higher education.
KARACHI:
Students of different universities organised protests and rallies again on Monday against the devolution of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Students of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Gulshan campus, held a protest at University Road, stopping traffic.
Dawood Engineering College students also staged a demonstration at Numaish Roundabout and burnt tyres. They said the devolution would deprive them of opportunities for higher education.
Earlier, students of the University of Karachi and NED University of Engineering and Technology also took to the streets against the government’s plans to devolve the commission. Students from other provinces felt they would suffer the most since institutions from both provinces will now be segregated.
