I feel that The Express Tribune is not just the newspaper of the present but a strategic move for the future.

Having been in the communications business for almost 27 years I have observed the changes in the local media scene very closely and witnessed many ups and downs in this important pillar of state integrity. And because of my quest to experience and innovate, I have MashaAllah taken many bold steps in the industry and hence a bold and innovative move excites me as I feel that innovation, boldness, and the courage to take on challenges is what we call Life .

To me, Lakson Group’s coming into the media business as Century Publications and launching the brand “Express” was a bold step and I was confident that with a strong and proven track record of building businesses in Pakistan the Group has all the ingredients required to succeed in this venture also. We have seen how the mother brand “Express” created its place in the print market, then gave birth to its sub brand in the electronic market and later launched an extension in the print as The Express Tribune, an English daily with more than one differences. I feel that The Express Tribune is not just the newspaper of the present but a strategic move for the future. It will cater to the newspaper reader who is young, self conscious, seeks a better quality of life, has done some travelling outside of Pakistan and exposed to the international print titlesand this is a huge base! If we study the demographics and changing lifestyle of urban Pakistan specially those who read an English daily and compare it to the changes taking place in the newspaper industry of the Country over the years, we can clearly visualise The Express Tribune as a trend and not a fad. And lastly, a


keen eye on ROI which is the hallmark of Century will certainly provide them the edge to sustain during the infancy of The Express Tribune which will become one of the key players in the English readers segment in Pakistan.
